Dear Valued Customers:

The final ruling of U.S. Census Bureau requiring mandatory filing of export information through the Automated Export System (AES) or through AESDirect for all shipments requiring a Shippers Export Declaration (SED) is effective July 2, 2008.

Customers are required to provide the Carrier with the Internal Transaction Number (ITN) (or the exemptions) 24 hours PRIOR to cargo loading onboard the vessel. Export documents (Master BL, shipping instructions, etc) must clearly indicate the ITN number or exemption legend. Failure to comply with these instructions will result in shipment delays.

For additional information regarding this regulation, please see Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) Title 15 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 30. The Census website is: www.census.gov/trade

All fines and penalties will begin to be assessed as of September 30, 2008. In order to become compliant with these regulations, Dole will begin enforcement of this policy immediately.
